United HomeCare® (UHC) proudly hosted the November meeting of the Elder Issues Committee and the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade, chaired by Marjorie Aloni and facilitated by Mayra Garcia, RN, BSN, MS, from the Florida Department of Health. Special guests included Brenda Lampon from the Miami-Dade County Office of the Mayor, Ahbria Marshall Program Officer from United Way Miami, and Nattaliah Earle from the Age-Friendly Initiative who provided insights on the Senior Survey Review and the 5-Year Plan, while UHC presented on Home and Community-Based Services for older adults and individuals with disabilities, including programs funded by the Alliance for Aging and United Way Miami. The Consortium aims to promote healthy living in the community through sustainable policies and initiatives under the Mayor’s Initiative on Healthy Aging and Livability. -

Funds Raised for AVUS Connect through local Pickleball Tournament
Pickleball4APurpose Tournament benefiting United HomeCare® AVUS Connect® was held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the Diadem Pickleball Complex in Broward County. Older adults and youth played together, forming 26 Pickleball4APurpose Intergenerational Teams and cultivating new intergenerational friendships. -

United HomeCare Teams with FPL to Deliver Hurricane Preparedness Kits
Working with Florida Power & Light, United HomeCare® and AVUS Connect® helped seniors prepare for hurricane season by delivering three days of shelf-stable meals, water and snacks, as well as Hurricane Preparedness information in Creole, for seniors at the Sant La Haitian Community Center in North Miami. More than 1,000 seniors in Miami-Dade County have received the kits and are now ready in case of a storm.
