Maria E. Gomez
Secretary of the Board

Maria E. Gomez is Secretary of the United HomeCare (UHC) Board of Directors. Gomez was the Senior Director of Customer Experience at Florida Power & Light Company (FPL).  She led one of Customer Care's highest-profile and most important projects--The Next Generation Contact Center Initiative--a huge cross-functional, multi-year project that positioned Customer Care on the cutting edge of technology while meeting customers' evolving service needs. Gomez played a critical role in customer care’s success winning a number of prestigious awards and rankings.
 
Gomez opened The FPL Customer Care Center at Florida International University on the Modesto A. Maidique campus—a first of its kind center that helps support FPL’s efforts to strengthen a pipeline for future talent. Gomez actively participates in a variety of local organizations including United Way of Miami-Dade, Teach-A-Thon, Special Olympics, Customer Service Committee member of the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies (AEIC), and is a board member of United HomeCare.  Gomez graduated cum laude from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and attended the University of Chicago's Executive Marketing program as part of FPL's senior leadership training.
