2008 marks the Fourteenth Annual Claude Pepper Memorial Awards Dinner.

The Claude Pepper Memorial Awards are designed to honor corporations and individuals who, like the Honorable Claude Pepper, have made a significant contribution to the needs of the elderly and/or the disabled in Miami-Dade County. 

Individuals, institutions, professionals, volunteers, or programs recognized must display, through their actions, a commitment to their profession and/or community and serve as an inspiration to others in an effort to improve the quality of life and discover new ways to assist the elderly and/or disabled in Miami-Dade County.

The dinner is the highlight of United HomeCare Services’ year and is intended to underscore the contributions made by the elderly to our society, while reminding the community that we cannot forget or ignore their needs or their dignity. We believe it is important to honor those companies and individuals who have dedicated time and resources to improving the lives of Miami-Dade’s frail elderly and disabled. Their efforts have made a significant contribution to our community as a whole, and a very real difference in the lives of those they touch.

Awards in six categories will be presented at the dinner. These include:

Corporate Service
Healthcare Company
A company in the healthcare industry with offices in Miami-Dade County that has been instrumental in improving the quality of life for the elderly and/or the disabled.

Corporate Service
Non-Healthcare Company
A company in an industry other than healthcare with offices in Miami-Dade County that has been instrumental in improving the quality of life for the elderly and/or the disabled.

Philanthropic Corporate Contribution
A company or foundation that has made a significant contribution to the development of innovative healthcare programs that improve the quality of life for the elderly and/or the disabled.

Public Service
An individual dedicated to public service who has been instrumental in changes which improve the quality of life for the elderly and/or the disabled.

Public Awareness/Media
A company or individual from Miami-Dade County who has been instrumental in increasing public awareness of the needs of, or services to, the elderly and/or disabled.

Community Builder/Contributor
An individual or company that has left a strong and positive mark on Miami-Dade County.
