Charitable Giving

United HomeCare Services provides a range of products, services, and assistance for the homebound frail elderly and disabled. These services are designed to assist in providing a good quality of life while allowing our clients to stay in their own homes.

Presently, we assist more than 3,000 frail elderly and disabled persons. All are homebound. Most are at or below poverty level and more than 40% of them are alone. Our waiting list includes nearly 1,000 people in need of services and assistance.

Many of our clients’ needs are met through insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid, but not all of them.

Your contribution of time and/or financial assistance can mean the difference between existing and living for the more than 4,000 people who use United HomeCare’s programs or are on the waiting list for them.

Some services we offer include:

  • Case management
  • Home health aides
  • Personal care assistance
  • Homemaker
  • Caregiver Respite
  • Escort
  • Companionship
  • Medical equipment and supplies
  • Home delivered meals
  • Emergency alert response
  • Skilled nursing
  • Therapy services
  • Mental health counseling
  • Nutrition risk reduction/education
  • TeleHealth monitoring

United HomeCare Services strives to meet the basic and the finer needs of all of our clients. Our volunteers play a vital role in the “human touch” component. By contributing to make the life of a homebound person a little lighter, you can make a significant difference in their life and in your community.

Remember, as we treat our elderly and disabled, so we shall be treated.

What can you do?
You can make a difference in the life of a homebound person by making a financial contribution to one or several of the following programs.

Dare to Dream
This very special program is designed to fill unmet needs and make life a little easier for the homebound.

Frequently, our clients and those on the waiting list have basic, unmet needs or wants which are not covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance. Meeting these needs can mean the difference between existing and thriving.

Needs may be as simple as furniture, which allows a homebound person to sit up more comfortably, to special equipment, which allows them to remain in their own home rather than going to a nursing home. Wants can range from easily managed window coverings to a small appliance.

By contributing to the Dare to Dream Program, you become a Dream Catcher. We’ll recognize your generosity in our newsletters and on our website. You will also receive information on how your contribution allowed someone to “dare to dream.”

If you have goods or services you would like to donate for Dare to Dream, please call Dolores Pollack at (305) 716-0789 to make sure it can be of use and to arrange delivery.

Holiday Giving (baskets and amenities)
Holidays can be among the best days of our lives – or among the loneliest. Help us make the Holidays shine for the homebound by contributing to our baskets program. We try to provide food and amenities to our neediest clients at least three times a year (Spring, Summer – Fourth of July, and Winter – Thanksgiving). Your contribution will make it possible for us to help them enjoy these holidays.

We’ll recognize your generosity in our newsletters and on our website. You’ll receive information on how your contribution was used to brighten someone’s holiday.

Emergency Alert Devices
Most of our clients, and those on the waiting list, would benefit significantly from an emergency alert device, but funding does not allow us to provide them to everyone. Your contribution will make it possible for more than 4,000 frail elderly and disabled adults to get emergency assistance with the touch of a button.

We’ll recognize your generosity in our newsletters and on our website. If your company would like to underwrite a significant portion of this program, you will receive additional exposure throughout the year.

Waiting List Assist
Due to limited funds and the need to prioritize services to the most frail, thousands of elderly and disabled must wait for assistance. The average wait time is six months! Your contribution will help us provide interim services to someone on the waiting list and will ensure that they can live at home while maintaining a strong quality of life.

We’ll recognize your generosity in our newsletters and on our website. You will also receive information on just how your contribution made a difference.
