Barbara Gray

Ms. Gray has over 25 years experience in healthcare primarily
in the growing hospice care industry. She is a resident of Plantation,
Florida. She recently retired from VITAS Healthcare & Hospice, where
she was responsible for the revenue, margin, and quality performance of
five to seven hospice branches as Vice President of Hospice Operations.
She currently serves as a Pro-Bono Consultant for the VITAS Hospice
Charitable Fund Foundation for End of Life Care.
She has served on the United HomeCare Services’ Board of Directors for
18 years as Board Member, Committee Chair, and Board Chair.
Ms. Gray is Chair of United HomeCare Services' Program Development Committee
and is on the Compensation Committee. She also
serves as a Crisis Line Volunteer
for Women in Distress of Broward
County. In 2006, she received the National
Good Samaritan Award for
Achievements in End of Life Care from the Rainbow
PUSH Coalition.
Ms. Gray has been a consultant in the education and human services
fields for more than 30 years. She was Assistant Professor for Staff and
Program Development at Miami Dade College, in Miami, Florida and English
and Communications at Alverno College, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill,
where she earned her Master's of Arts in College Teaching and the
University of Florida, Gainesville, where she earned her Bachelor's of Arts in
English.
Humberto P. Alonso,

A licensed Architect, Mr. Alonso has spent the past 19 years in
leadership positions throughout South Florida. Prior to his
current position, he was with the South Florida Water Management District
(SFWMD) and the School Board of Broward County. Before joining the
School Board in 1987, he was a founder and vice president of Architectura
Totalis Corporation in Coral Gables.
Currently, as South Florida District Director for PBS&J,
the largest Florida-based Engineering-Architecture firm, he leads the
firm’s
business development and community involvement activities
within Miami-Dade, Broward,
and Palm Beach counties, as well as Puerto
Rico.
Mr. Alonso is also very active in his community. In
addition to his work
with United HomeCare Services, he serves as a Board member for the Bay of Pigs Museum and the
Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida. He also serves as a Board Member for the
Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and serves as Chairman of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.
Mr. Alonso also served as SFWMD
representative on the South Florida Regional Planning Council and is the
immediate past
Chairperson of the Biscayne Bay Regional Restoration
Coordination Team.
He currently serves on United HomeCare Services' Building Committee.
Mr. Alonso earned both his Master’s Degree in Business
Administration
and Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the
University of Miami.

Committee Workgroup on Nursing Home Improvement, and the Agency Health Care
Administration

Mr. Fuentes is a resident of Coconut Grove/Miami and recently started The Fuentes Group.
Mr. Fuentes has also served as South Florida Director for The Wren Group; District Aide for United
States Senator Connie Mack; as Director of the Office of Hispanic Affairs
for the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives; as Legislative
Assistant for Representatives Rudy Garcia and Nilo Juri; and as
Legislative Lobbyist for the Broward County Commission.
He presently serves as the Chairperson, Miami-Dade
Asian-American Advisory Board; Board Member, Monsignor Edward Pace High School; and
Board Member, Belafonte-Tacolcy Community Center in Liberty City;
President, Celebration Point Condo Association in Miami Lakes; and is a
Graduate of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class of
1991. Mr. Fuentes is also the Chair of United HomeCare Services' Resource Development Committee.
In recognition of his extensive community involvement, he has
received numerous
commendations and awards.
Mr. Fuentes attended Miami-Dade College and is a graduate of
St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida, where he earned his Bachelor’s

Marcos Perez

Mr. Perez began pursuing his Ph.D.
in Leadership at FIU in the
Fall of 2003. Most recently, Mr. Perez served as liaison
for the President of Florida International University,
maintaining a high level of
public relations and interaction with university
and community contacts. He was promoted
to Vice President for
Administration, where he oversaw a number of functions, including
athletics,
and, in early 2007, became Senior Vice President for External
Relations.
Previously, Mr. Perez worked in the beverage industry as Vice President and Director of
the Bacardi
Beverage Company. He also headed up the group of strategic planning
and business
development from 2001 to 2003.
Mr. Perez holds an MBA and a Bachelor’s
degree in
Marketing and International Business from Florida International University. He
is currently working on his Ph.D. Mr. Perez is on United HomeCare Services' Program Development
Committee.
John Fletcher,

Mr. Fletcher grew up in the Kansas suburbs of Kansas City,
Missouri.
He earned his Bachelor's Degree in English from Princeton University and
a JD from Northwestern University Law School.
Mr. Fletcher has been the Notes and Comments editor of the
Northwestern University Law Review and has practiced law since 1978.
His focus is principally on corporate, securities, finance, mergers, and acquisitions laws.
Mr. Fletcher was a partner for the Morgan, Lewis & Bockius
law firm in Miami from 1986 – 2003. He retired in 2003.
Mr. Fletcher was chairman of the Board of Directors for United
HomeCare Services from 2003 to 2005. He is the Chair of United HomeCare Services' Compensation Committee and is also on the Finance Committee.
Charles A. Gibson,

Mr. Gibson is a probate, guardianship, and elder law
attorney-at-law specializing in estate, guardianship, and elder law litigation
and planning through his current practice, Gibson Law Offices, P.A. He
is Chairman of the Theodore R. & Thelma A. Gibson Charter School and
also serves as In-House Counsel for eight Miami-Dade County Charter
Schools.
Prior to forming his law practice, he was a federal labor and
pension benefits attorney. Mr. Gibson worked for Sugarman & Susskind, P.A.,
where he specialized in labor law including collective bargaining
negotiation, employee pension benefit, individual employee dispute
resolution, employee grievance, and employer/employee arbitration.
Mr. Gibson is a graduate of the University of Illinois,
Champaign/Urbana, and the University of Miami where he attained his Juris
Doctorate. He is a Member of the Florida Bar for the United States District
Court, Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, and a member of the Dade
County Lawyers Association.
He is the proud grandson of Thelma Vernell Anderson Gibson and the
late Reverend Canon Theodore Roosevelt Gibson. He follows their
exemplary lead in wanting to give something back to the community. He serves
on several volunteer organizations including Regional Community
Collaborative on Violence, the Theodore R. Gibson Memorial Fund, and the
Coconut Grove Collaborative.
He joined the United HomeCare Services’ Board of Directors in
December 2006. Mr. Gibson serves on the Program Development, Compensation,
and Board Policy Committees for United HomeCare Services.
Thelma A. Gibson, R.N.
Thelma Vernell Anderson Gibson, R.N. was born in 1926. She is a
native Miamian and the widow of the late Reverend Canon Theodore Roosevelt
Gibson.
Mrs. Gibson attended Saint Augustine’s College, North
Carolina and graduated in 1947, as a Registered Nurse. Then, she
attended Florida A & M University. She took courses at Catholic
University, Washington, D.C. Later, she attended the University of North
Carolina. From there, she attended the University of Miami. In
1959, she attended Teachers College at Columbia University, New York and
earned her bachelors degree in nursing education. Her career
extended thirty-three years: as a Staff Nurse, Clinical Nurse, Public
Health Nurse, Head Nurse, Nursing Supervisor, and Social Worker.
For more than fifty years, Mrs. Gibson has been involved in
education, health, leadership, volunteerism, and service. In 1997, she was
appointed as Interim City Commissioner and served on the City of Miami
Commission.
Mrs. Gibson is a member of many boards and committees,
including her membership as a Founder of the Jewish Home for the Aged.
Her autobiography, Forbearance, Thelma Vernell Anderson
Gibson, The Life Story of A Coconut Grove Native, was
released in 2000.
Mrs. Gibson sponsors the Gibson Health Initiative that provides
free testing and assistance for HIV and AIDS. Her latest project is
the Theodore and Thelma School of the Performing Arts in Coconut Grove,
where the students receive academics with a focus on the Arts.
Jeffrey Horstmyer, M.D.
Chair of Department of Neurology for FIU College of Medicine
A long time member of the FIU community, Dr. Horstmyer is the founding chairman of the Department
of Neurology at the FIU College of Medicine. After graduating from Emory University Business School
and working in real estate development, he attended the University of Miami School of Medicine and
completed internship neurology residency training at JMH/UM where he was appointed Administrative
Chief Resident. In addition, he completed a fellowship in neuromuscular neurology and
electroneurophysiology at the University of Miami.
Certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Horstmyer has served
the Miami area for over 20 years. Since then, he has held a number of leadership positions in the
medical and academic community of Miami, including President of the Mercy Hospital Medical Staff
and member of the Board of Trustees at Mercy Hospital, Chief of the Division of Neurology at Mercy
Hospital, Chairman of the Emergency Room Committee at Health South Doctors Hospital, and a member
of the Professional Advisory Committee of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in South Florida.
He is also a founding member of the Dade County Stroke Consortium. Dr. Horstmyer is a Founder
and Chairman of the MS Centers of Florida Foundation and the Founder of the MS Center of Miami.
At FIU. Dr. Horstmyer has been chairman of the Council of 100, a member of the Board of Directors,
a member of the Advisory Board of Biomedical Engineering and of the Frost Art Museum. For his 10
years of dedication towards procuring a medical school, he was awarded the Kal Kovens Distinguished
Community Service Medallion. In addition, he has received numerous honors from the community such
as the awards from the Penalver Clinic, Camillus House and San Juan Bosco Clinics for providing
free neurological care to homeless and indigent patients. He was given the National Multiple
Sclerosis Leadership Award and was named one of Florida’s top doctors.
Hank Klein

Hank Klein currently works for Blanca Commercial Real Estate. Previously, Mr. Klein was the Executive Director of Business Development at
Cushman & Wakefield of Florida and Vice Chairman of Flagler Realty Services aka the Codina Group.
Klein was also President and CEO of Codina Bush Klein.
Before this, he was a senior sales consultant for Coldwell Banker Commercial
Real Estate Services in Miami and a sales associate for Cushman & Wakefield of
Florida.
When he became the head of Codina Bush Klein (CBK) in 1988, Klein built the firm from 3 to 35 brokers with
two offices in Miami, one in Fort Lauderdale, and one in Boca Raton.
CBK was recognized several years in a row by the South Florida Business Journal
as the leading commercial brokerage firm in South Florida.
In 2000, after twelve years as President/CEO of Codina Realty Services, Klein
moved to the full time role of new business development. In that capacity, he worked
closely with younger brokers in both training and mentoring roles.
Active in civic and community affairs, Klein was Vice Chairman of the Board of
Trustees of Miami-Dade College for eight years; he was also Chairman of the Greater
Miami Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he serves on the Board of Directors of
Goodwill Industries, and the Board of Governors’ of the Dade Community Foundation.
He also serves on the Board of Directors of Fiduciary Trust International of the South,
a Franklin Templeton Company. Recently Mr. Klein joined TransAtlantic Bank as a
member of the Board of Directors. He is a fifty-year Miami resident and holds a
bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Miami.
Joaquin “Jack” Leon,
Esq.

Mr. Leon is a senior attorney in the Litigation Section of
Florida Power & Light Company, resident in the Miami office. In addition,
Mr. Leon is assistant secretary of Florida Power & Light (FPL) Company and
FPL Group, Inc., the parent company, as well as the registered agent of FPL
Group, Inc. and its 500 subsidiaries.
Mr. Leon handles a variety of commercial and tort cases, and has experience in
discovery litigation support for major cases. He is currently the attorney that
issues all the litigation hold letters for the Law Department.
He received his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana
State University in 1971. From 1971-1976, Mr. Leon designed underground electrical systems
for Florida Power & Light Company. Beginning in 1973, he attended law school at night
at the University of Miami while working at Florida Power & Light Company.
Mr. Leon received a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami in 1976, and has been
an attorney in the Law Department of Florida Power & Light Company ever since.
Mr. Leon is on United HomeCare Services' Finance Committee.
Gina Martinez Nguyen, P.A.

Gina Martinez Nguyen was born in Nicaragua and raised in South Florida. Mrs. Nguyen
graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Law in 1998 and has focused her
career in the areas of special needs planning, guardianships and special needs trust
administration. She has valuable experience both as an attorney and as a trust
administrator, and she used that knowledge to found the law firm of Gina Nguyen, P.A.
(f/k/a Lader & Nguyen, P.L.) Prior to working on her own she was a Vice President &
Trust Officer at SunTrust Bank; and was an associate attorney at Lillesand & Associates,
P.A., (n/k/a Lillesand & Wolasky, P.L.).
Throughout her years of practice Mrs. Nguyen has offered practice pointers to attorneys,
accountants and trust officers through various presentations and articles. Mrs. Nguyen is
a current Vice Chair for the Miami-Dade County Probate and Guardianship Committee
and incoming member of the Florida Bar’s Federal Taxation and Special Needs Trust
Subcommittee, which will be responsible for reviewing bipartisan legislation which
proposes to amend the Internal Revenue Code to establish accounts for the care of family
members with disabilities. She is a 2003 National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys
(NAELA) Institute guest co-speaker and her outline “SSI Trust & Transfer Rules “, coauthored
with David J. Lillesand, Esq., was selected for publication in the Spring 2004
issue of The NAELA quarterly: The Best of the Best. Mrs. Nguyen is a member of the
Florida Bar and fluent in Spanish.
